What a way to roll into Christmas! During the winter of 2020 under the uncertainty of a COVID lockdown we created a classically styled animation, summarising Act 1 of Nutcracker Delights for the English National Ballet.
Whilst London moved into a tier 4 lockdown, the English National Ballet were forced to film the production and as a gift to its audience they streamed a free recorded show that premiered on Thursday 24th December 2020 on their YouTube and Facebook channels, for 30 days.
2020 was a challenging year but despite everything we can’t be any prouder of our Nerds and what they achieved.
Created in just a few weeks, this project utilised all our in-house creativity with hand illustrated scenes and motion timed for the live orchestra. It was a fun project that was both technically and artistically demanding in such a short window.
We used captivating characters and classic visual stylings, to get the audience up to speed in an entertaining and effective manner. This created a piece that feels consistent and harmonious with the rest of the iconic ballet. To support this, we took influence from the set pieces and stage design as well as the fundamental elements of the Nutcracker story.
