Project EVOLVE

NOMINET

MediaNerd believes online safety is important now more than ever, especially for young people. The team were extremely proud to help our client on a collaborative project with South West Grid for Learning on their new project.

The aim of ‘ProjectEVOLVE’ is to raise awareness to parents and teachers on how children and young people aged 5-25 years can stay safe when they’re online through the ProjectEVOLVE platform. We were tasked with creating an emotive promotional video highlighting the importance of the online platform as well as an informative interview with a SWGFL representative explaining the details of the program. Although COVID-19 was still very much present, lockdown restrictions were enabling film shoots to go ahead on a smaller capacity. As exciting as this was for the team to be out on location again, it unsurprisingly provided us with some challenges for us to meet the criteria and deadline.

We had one day to shoot all the content which meant time management and a considered shot list were the key ingredients to the success of the shoot. Although the children featuring in the film were not trained actors, we were able to integrate their natural behaviours into the film which overall was very successful. Using lighting and specialty filters, the overall aesthetic was dreamy to highlight the emotive atmosphere of the film as well as driving the important messaging behind the advertisement. To further enhance these features, we integrated VFX to elevate the emotion on a visual level and the use of text to highlight feelings which may not be represented through the actors.
